optionala sprinkle of sesame seeds for added garnish
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes, roughly 1 inch in size, ensuring they are uniform for even cooking.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Carefully toss the tofu cubes in this dry mixture until they are evenly coated on all sides.
Place the coated tofu cubes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Ensure that the cubes are spaced apart to promote even cooking and crispiness.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping the tofu pieces halfway through the baking time to achieve an even golden brown color and maximum crispiness.
While the tofu is baking, heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic to the pan and sauté for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until the garlic is fragrant and lightly golden but not burned.
Once the tofu is beautifully baked, remove it from the oven and drizzle the sautéed garlic mixture and soy sauce over the tofu. Gently toss to coat the tofu evenly in the flavorful sauce.
Return the tofu to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes. This step allows the tofu to absorb more of the garlic and soy flavor, enhancing its deliciousness.
Remove the tofu from the oven and transfer the crispy bites to a serving dish. Garnish with finely chopped green onions and, if desired, a sprinkle of sesame seeds for a lovely touch of crunch and presentation.
Notes
For extra crunch, sprinkle sesame seeds on top before serving.
